Optimization and simulation of an autonomous ferry service on the Kiel Fjord

In cooperation with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway, we are investigating the design possibilities of an autonomous ferry service on the Kiel Fjord. Autonomus ferries are a hotly debated topic when it comes to developing new mobility concepts in coastal regions. A central idea is to replace the existing conventional and usually very large ferris with smaller autonomus ferries in order to achieve greater flexibility in the ferry service.
